My third grade students are very active learners, who excel when they are engaged and focused. We meet in small groups for reading and math daily, and at times, it is hard for students to attend to the task at hand for the entire 30 minute group time. I have students who work best when moving the entire time, standing, bouncing, kneeling, stretching a band, etc. Our current table configuration makes it difficult to meet with six students comfortably at one time. We are confined to either a very small round table, or a squeaky, wobbly kidney shaped table, that is actually quite distracting while writing during groups. The appeal of being able to answer questions and engage cooperatively by writing on a tabletop, while also being able to move their bodies with the wobbly stools, will add a whole new level of excitement to our third grade small group time! I can already hear my students begging for extra time to interact with me during guided reading and math at the "fun flower table"! Any and all donations for this FLEXible and FUN project will be greatly appreciated by myself, my current students, and my future students for many years to come! THANK YOU!!
