My students crave the use of technology. We are a small school in a rural area with a 99% free and reduced lunch rate. Most students do not have the ability to have access to technology at home, so when they come to school there is a race to see who's going to have a turn on the 2 computers and 9 iPads. In our classroom we use the technology we have to practice math skills during math rotations, research science and social studies materials, and read during literacy rotations. Students are much more engaged when they can use technology. Their favorite app is Epic! They can access thousands of books that they are interested in for free! We also keep an online journal through SeeSaw, an app where students can capture or record their work and save it to their profile. My students have flourished ever since we introduced technology into classroom learning.
