Hokki Stools are cleverly designed stools that would replace the traditional chair for the most active children in my classroom. The Hokki stool is a backless stool with a curved bottom. These stools force students to sit upright, strengthening their core while allowing students to wiggle and move their bodies and remain sitting at their tables. The benefits of children being able to move while they are working are numerous. The children are able to be in motion while still focusing on the work in front of them. If implemented, these stools will let students continue to participate in academic activities and further their learning rather than take time out of their day to release energy. Attention spans grow longer and the ability to concentrate improves. Research proves that this relationship between movement and brain activity leads to better academic results. A set of 7 of these chairs will allow the most active children to continue working on their academics while addressing their physical needs. These stools are designed to withstand the use of students and will be used for many years to come, impacting hundreds of children.
