There are so many wonderful learning activities and educational programs available online. Children love to learn through technology, especially when the program adapts itself to the child's own instructional level and learning style. Our school has adopted several computer-based intervention programs that use visual and auditory cues to promote learning. The effectiveness of our blended learning approach is enhanced when students can tune out the distractions of other activities in the room. Individual headphones will help children focus on their own instructional programs. In the past, I have asked my students to bring headphones from home, or purchased them myself. Not everyone can afford even basic headphones, and the ones from the discount stores simply don't hold up to regular classroom use. Having a class set of sturdy headphones would solve quite a few problems. Every student would have the same type of headset, so no one would feel inadequate. The classroom would be quieter during small-group instruction time, enabling everyone to focus more on their own learning. Individual headphones would give all students the privacy they deserve as they read and solve problems on their own instructional level. These headphones are also easy to wipe clean, and they are sturdy enough to hold up to years of daily use. My students will be proud to use these headphones during online learning time.
