As a result of the specialized reading instruction that my program uses, I take the lowest achieving readers in the school. These children reach Middle School reading well below grade level and many are frustrated with reading instruction. I need materials that the children have never used before and that look age appropriate. I also need materials that are quick and easy to access, since each child has different needs and there is little time to cover all of the skills that I need to cover. These materials that I have selected appear to address all of these concerns. I will be able to implement the reading comprehension stories with my students on a weekly basis and give the students practice with the skills they are learning. Most of my students are reading on third and fourth grade level so I need access to both levels. I plan on using the fluency exercises as least twice a week and track their progress with fluency probes. Every other week, I would like to take the time to play the grammar games to give them a fun and educational exercise.
