The carpet spot in a 1st grade classroom is an area used in almost every lesson. It may be where a new concept is introduced, a story is read aloud, a place to work on ideas with a partner, a thinking space or where we come to share our learning and accomplishments at the end of the day! No one wants to sit on a cold, hard floor! My classroom carpet is being ripped out this summer and replaced with cold, hard tile floors. I want my first graders to have a comfortable area to come together as a team!
