My school is a Title I, large, urban school consisting of about 570 students with 90% receiving free or reduced lunch. I have 27 socially energetic 4th grade students that enjoy working collaboratively. However, many of my students are struggling readers, and a listening center would not only serve as a model for what good readers do, but will also enable higher-level skills that my students need to learn in order to be academically successful.
