Our middle school consists of students in grades 6 through 8 in a small, consolidated school district. I love the outdoors, and I have the privilege of teaching one hundred and forty-five seventh graders that have a passion to learn about the world around them. Today's students have grown up with cutting-edge technology through the use of their cellphones, home computers and gaming systems, so it seems logical that their learning would include technological tools as well preparing them for the global workplace. An iPad would couple student's technological aptitude with their hunger for knowledge creating the ideal student-driven learning environment. It is exciting to be a facilitator in a classroom full of new "scientists" anxiously searching for the answers to their questions. It is more exciting though when you see the light in their eyes as they make the connections they are searching for and gain the understanding of the concepts at hand.
