Our vision is to create a Makerspace. A Makerspace is a place for everyone to come and explore their passions using raw materials, tools, technology, repurposed items and imagination. Our students can work independently or collaboratively, using technology and drawing on the collective wisdom of those in the room to help achieve their goals. Our makerspace will be a place encouraging inquiry and open-ended exploration for our students in order to promote collaboration, build community, and cultivate a culture that supports the idea that anything is possible. Too often we inadvertently limit students’ creativity by putting our own expectations and limitations on their work. So we want to bring the creativity back to our school in order to re-engage and re-inspire students in an authentic and meaningful way. Our Makerspace classroom will incorporate a variety of tools and materials that connect to student interests including textiles, electronics, art supplies, and mechanical tools.
