My students come from many different backgrounds. We have a significant population of English Language Learners from many different areas of the world. Economic disadvantage is evident at my school and we have a free and reduced lunch rate that has climbed above 50% in recent years. I teach many students served by IEPs as well as students in the highly capable program. My students are much more interested and engaged with sources that "pull them in" than they are with a textbook. At times, I am able to provide them with sources that meet their needs. And, conversely, sometimes funding limits what I am able to engage them with.
