Cooking is a life long skill, cooking for health is a way of life. In the inner city food desert neighborhoods where many of my students have grown up, learning how to cook healthy, fast, affordable meals can be a transformative experience that is one crucial piece in my school's holistic mission to point students towards a path lined with options for growth and change. We have access to a working kitchen and basic supplies, but some better knives, a versatile Instapot, an herb garden kit, along with a few other things will help to take our work to the next level. My Cooking for Life class, launched this year, has already gotten students excited about getting their hands dirty, trying new foods, and thinking about how to take control of their health. Your contributions would allow students to continue on their journey of being a healthy whole person.
