My first grade students are emergent readers. This means that practice makes perfect. They are exploring new worlds by reading new books. Every child deserves comfortable seating. This set of table and chairs will allow students to have some quiet time to read on their own. After we learn new literacy skills as a whole group, the students have a chance to practice those skills on their own. A new clean setting is a perfect way to start the school year. Also, with the a new area, students can partner read with another student. This skill allows students to practice social skills as well.
