My students have learned coding through programs such as Code, Kodable, CS-First, & Scratch. After gaining some confidence in their coding, I would like to use the Dash and Dot robot to take the skills we acquire to the next level. It will help students visualize why coding is an important and fun skill to have in their toolbox. We will program the robots and analyze the outcomes. It will inspire problem solving and critical thinking in our classroom. Donations to my project will help shape the future as students are exposed to cutting edge technology. I envision my students working together on the touch interface of the iPad mini to program the robots Dash and Dot in order to learn the basics of computer programming. With Dash and Dot computer programmable robots my students will be exposed to a level of computer science that they otherwise would not have access to. This will give my students an advantage and may encourage them to pursue a career path they would have never imagined without the exposure to this innovative technology. I want my students to see that computers are actually machines that you can program to do what you want. It is my goal for them to discover a whole new world of learning, play and adventure. Access to this technology will inspire them to do great things and will encourage them to want to seek a career in a field such as Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics. Their futures will be brighter as a result of this project being funded!
