Many of the students in my class come from rich musical backgrounds rooted in rhythm and traditional songs. Our school currently does not have a music class option. We are a STEM school with a heavy emphasis in science and math. I would like to incorporate more music in the classroom as I have noticed my students learn better when there is a musical twist to the concepts I am teaching. I would like to introduce them to simple music concepts. I think teaching them music theory, playing instruments, and performance etiquette will greatly benefit them moving on from our school into the middle school next year! The items I have requested are a classroom set of recorders, a recorders method book and simple music reading methods book. I would like to introduce my students to a different kind of musical instrument as well as give them a base of music theory. I am looking forward to teaching my students a new instrument that is unfamiliar to them.
