My stellar science students, who are in grades 10-12, attend a rural high school with a 50% rate of free and reduced lunches. The school district, in which we are the only high school, covers the second largest geographic area in the state. Historically, a great number of our students come from farming, ranching and logging families, some of which stretch back for generations. Due to the characteristics of our district, many students have limited access to advanced science classes and skills used in medical careers.
