Many students find math classes dry and difficult to relate to. This lesson will help them realize that math can be fun, engaging and rewarding as they gift their finished product to a friend or family member. With a 3D printer, students will design and create snowflakes to demonstrate their understanding of acute angles as well as tangent, parallel and perpendicular lines. They will discuss mirror and symmetry in their designs. They can even try and create a snowflake using their own initials. Their finished products may then be made into ornaments that can be given as a treasured gift to friends and family.
