I teach a physical education class. I see up to 8 classes a day K-5. Our school has a vary diverse population. More than 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Daily, I see a group of students with autism. This year 100% of that group learned to ride a bike with no training wheels or any other assistance. I would like to keep that momentum going. Many of my students with autism do not have the opportunity to experience the freedom of a bike ride at home. As a result many of them go a year without touching a bike again. Helmets would help change that.
