Because many of my students come from a single income family and are Hispanic, they don't have the diverse reading material available to them at home, sometimes no books at all. I need to be able to provide my students books that they can relate to from their own culture. I want books in my library that are just as diverse as my students. I want to be able to provide them with a variety of reading material from different genres and books that are of interest to them. I know having a variety of books in my library will help instill a love of reading for my students.
