When I had my students take a survey at the beginning of the year, many of them told me that experiments are their favorite part of science. As a teacher, my favorite days in class are also lab days! Labs not only serve as a way to teach science content, but they also help students develop teamwork and critical thinking skills. Students should be able to BE scientists and not just read about them or see them on tv. Our school does not have the financial capability to purchase any lab supplies for my science classes. Due to the lack of funding, I either can't include labs in my lessons or I have to purchase the materials myself. This is where YOU come in! By donating to my classroom you are providing students with the materials they need to be scientists. For my anatomy and physiology unit, my students are hoping to get their first dissection experience. The dissection kits and gloves will make this a reality. Through this dissection they will explore body systems and anatomy to gain a better understanding of the content that we will cover in the unit. The remaining materials, the Inquiries in Science kit, methylene blue, and the litmus paper will all contribute to other classroom experiments throughout the school year.
