I have the pleasure of working in a first grade classroom with a total of thirteen students. Several of these students are English Language Learners. All of my students come from low income families and receive free breakfast and lunch. Some students are even on a "backpack program", where they take a backpack of canned goods to eat over the weekend. Sometimes they have so much going on in their personal lives at ages six and seven, that as an adult, I do not know how they cope with it. Despite some of their struggles, my students are very motivated and eager to learn. I am committed to making a change in each and every one of my students lives. My goal is to provide a loving stable classroom community, where my students feel accepted and safe.
