My first grade students have a variety of special needs. They love to be loved and thrive on positive reinforcement and praise. We are a very hands-on class and need frequent breaks to move around. The students love to do Wii Dance on YouTube and jump around the room to GoNoodle brain break videos. Despite their differing daily needs, I have the same expectations for them that a regular education teacher would have for her students. My class has really risen to my high expectations and continues to surprise me daily on how much they can improve upon their behavior, attitude, and learning. My school is wonderful in providing the support through OT, Speech and Language services, and a behavior team for the rough moments.
