Routines seem to go further with the children that we teach due to the lack of it outside of school. As you can see I have started using an area rug that I found at a garage sale this summer to enforce routine during group activities. This rug, with clear lines would help my students in staying in their own safe learning space. This inclusive colorful area rug will provide my students opportunities to work individually, as well as enhance our classroom community. The area rug will also be used as a gathering space throughout the day. Each morning we gather for morning meeting. Morning meeting is a time where students great each other, share, and play a game. It is a wonderful community building opportunity and also promotes social emotional skills. The area rug will also be a space to gather for lessons throughout the day. Additionally, I would love to provide my students with individual seat storage. Today's classrooms are so diverse! Differentiated instruction is essential to accommodate all the diverse learning needs and abilities in my classroom. The seat storage would allow for my students to have easy access to their differentiated materials. Having seat storage sacks would help them understand that they have their OWN space that is always safe for them, and help me continue to teach them to respect their space and others.
