Our students are mostly African-American, many qualify for free or reduced lunch. They are in summer school because they failed the class the first time. There are usually two classes because there are so many students who need the credits. Students respond to personal interactions, experiments and real-world experiences. Each year I try to do more to get them engaged in the environment by doing walks and experiments that are literally outside-the-box, but still "real science". I used this kit a few years ago and know how engaged students get. The left-over chemicals in that kit have expired. The only reasonable way to replenish it is to get another full kit. Thank you so much for reading this and considering helping to inspire my 9th graders to care about the environment.
