Learners in classrooms today must be prepared to thrive in a dynamic technological environments. Access to technology can remove limits that traditionally might prevent a learner from reaching his or her full potential. However, the "Digital Divide" is a reality, and many learners, particularly those at lower-income schools, may not have access to the technology that can empower them to take control of their own learning and maximize their potential. The three Chromebooks requested for this project will allow my students to access content across all subjects at varying levels of ability. It allows me to customize learning experiences for every child, depending on their ability level or unique educational needs. It also allows me students to interact with technology in meaningful ways. Did you know that IBM predicts that soon, our knowledge base will double every 12 hours, due to advances in technology? Our students must be equipped to live and work in a world far different from even the one they know today. This can not be accomplished without frequent, meaningful access to technology. The materials requested for this project will allow my students more one-on-one time with computers, building their abilities in all the areas emphasized in the ISTE standards.
