Our student body is largely Hispanic, with many students who are still learning English. The school is located in a rough area of the city, and we do not always have the best reputation. Programs like this are changing the image of inner-city schools. Being a part of a performing ensemble such as this creates a sense of community and belonging for the students within this struggling community. They encourage one another and hold each other accountable for their actions.

About my class
