Thank you for the opportunity to request materials for our classroom in such a unique time. In order to continue to reach my students through social media and platforms like Google Classroom throughout the year, I have requested funding for two pieces of technology, which have already been approved for use by my district. These two devices will assist me in reaching my high school dance students regardless of if we are meeting face to face or virtually. I teach a performing arts dance course, which encourages all students regardless of age, experience, or gender to explore dance as an art form. These tools will help me to play music from an iPad instead of from my personal device as well as record myself for examples of how to perform a dance skill or teach technique. Additionally, I could use this iPad to assist me as I assess students via video; the Apple Pencil would also help with these video assessments. I have assessed students via video since the course’s inception in 2013. I use an application called Coach’s Eye, which allows an educator to circle or highlight areas of progress in a video submission. An apple pencil is made specifically for Apple products, and it will make assessments more valuable for students and more efficient for me.
