After teaching online in the spring, the hardest thing I encountered was modeling problem solving without my white board. I started out using my finger (which was a disaster) and progressed to a cheap stylus just to get the job done. I would love to have the Apple Pencil as an accessory to my school iPad. It has lots of features I can't wait to try out. The precision it creates will allow my writing to be more legible than what I produced in the spring and the hand detection will keep my hand from producing rogue marks on the screen. I plan on using this Pencil daily. I embed PowerPoint slides and example problems into Microsoft OneNote while sharing my screen so my students may see how to work through the tough problems in chemistry. Using this platform allows me to write on the screen and they can see it and ask questions in real time. It gives them the closest feeling to being in my classroom.
