Each and every morning my students begin their day by gathering on the floor in a circle for the purpose of building community through a process called Morning Meeting. Beginning the day by greeting each other and sharing or playing a game is critical to building a positive learning environment. It sets a positive tone to the day, provides a sense of belonging and fulfills the need to have fun. My students are in need of a large rug for the purpose of signifying our place to meet on the floor for Morning Meeting. The rug is a circle shape which will help support students in sitting in a fashion that promotes social interaction. This rug will be used not only for morning meeting but to gather on to share out new learning throughout the school day.
