These costumes will improve the professionalism of the dance department; giving the students confidence and a sense of pride about their choreography. They will be able to be on the stage feeling like they are in a performance on the highest professional level. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the students as they represent these characters is priceless. All of the theme generated by the dance department involve research about the many topics we have covered over the years. Our research is very valuable to the authentic representation of the characters or cultural of the dance. Our theme for this year is the world of children stories found on film. The animator of Disney and older cartoons will be explored this year. It is very important that the students can produce their dances and have the right type of costumes to represent their choreography. We partner with professional dance companies from City Center and the Joyce Theater to make sure our dancers are seeing the very best professional dance companies. Since they see the best, I want them to know that they are the best! No one is left out as we celebrate our dance community with our Spring Production of "Youth Dance". They are our future stars I want to honor them in every way I can. My students need Native American costumes to study the culture and represent a dance in the Native American style.
