My preschool and kindergarten students have limited options for play during their mandated daily 30 minutes of outside time. While we have plenty of space, outdated playground equipment fails to entice students in active play. Tricycles will provide opportunities for gross motor movement, as well as the negotiation and compromise that come with turn taking. Movement and exercise are vital for increasing children's health and developing their coordination. Since freedom of movement is a natural outgrowth of our Montessori philosophy, movement is also a part of our practical life curriculum. Inside the classroom, we provide lessons and practice in refining the fine motor movement of the hands. Students also need time to practice and develop gross motor movement. What better way could there be than riding trikes with your friends?
