Our economically disadvantaged students have access to rent a musical instrument for free. HOWEVER, accessories such as reeds are not provided for our students. If you are familiar with woodwind instruments, such as clarinet, oboe, bassoon or saxophone, you understand that without a reed the instrument will make no sound! Often students can only afford a single woodwind reed for the entire school year. By January the reed is chipped, worn out, and possibly growing mold! Yuck!!! You can imagine this situation makes their second semester challenging, frustrating and smelly. By purchasing reeds and reed cases for our woodwind students they will be able to practice good hygiene, rotate multiple reeds to extend longevity, and experiment with different strength reeds to get the best tone from their instrument. Reed cases and reed cups will help students be prepared and ready to make music for the entire school year! Our students thank you in advance for your support.
