Not every child loves to read, so it's important to build opportunities for students to engage with books--lots of books--in a fun inclusive way. This project is designed to introduce even the most reluctant readers to a multiple of genres and world perspectives through a March-Madness-type reading bracket. The 32 books purchased through this program will be the starting lineup for a grade-level tournament of books. Students in our 4th-6th grade classes will be given a 3 month "season" to read as many titles from the list. In March, the books will be put into brackets, with students voting between the matched pairs. The winning book will advance to the "sweet 16". These pairings will continue until a champion is crowned. Students will predict the "winners" by completing tournament brackets.
