My students are in a very unique learning situation. I teach two half-day kindergarten classes. My students spend the other half of their day learning Mandarin Chinese. The students in my classes are extremely diverse; economically, racially, and culturally. For many of my students Mandarin is their 3rd or 4th language. While we are impacted by many of the issues that come with a high incidence of poverty, we also have oodles of families and staff members who are deeply dedicated to creating a feeling of optimism and a sense of community once you walk through the front doors. I know I could find an easier job at an easier school, but I would be hard pressed to find a better job at a better school.
