Sometimes reading about science is important, but there are other times that getting one's hands dirty are necessary. Having my students take a close look at the properties of the different types of rocks will help them better-understand the similarities and differences between them. They will also have the opportunity to examine rock and soil samples and make new and exciting observations! Research has shown that students who learn about scientific concepts through hands-on approaches inherit a deeper understanding of these concepts. I hope to make great memories with my students as we study the properties of rocks and soil.
