I will use this as a guided reading novel in small group literature discussions with guided text-based questions to give students an opportunity to see different perspectives and learn that we are all the same and that we need to be nonjudgmental of race, religion, and gender. Students will be learning to read for a variety of purposes and practice skills to determine characterization, theme, and authors purpose. Students will also write for a variety of purposes such as to reflect, summarize, and persuade in argumentative writing. Students will be able to compare characters and compare the text to real world issues.

About my class
