As a special education high school mathematics teacher, it is imperative to me that my students are focused and attentive in order to succeed in the classroom. All of my students have an IEP and they come to me a with a wide array of disabilities ranging from Autism, to Emotional Disturbance. It is my job to provide my students with the best tools and resources I can to allow them to achieve in my class and ultimately go on to earn their high school diploma. These sensory tools will provide my students with an opportunity to maintain their focus and attention, in addition to helping some students relieve anxiety, hyperactivity, and frustration. These tools will be a great resource in my classroom for a magnitude of reasons and my students will be able to utilize these resources for their own individual needs. These tools will not be a disruption to the learning environment, which is important. I believe that incorporating these sensory tools into my classroom can really be the key to taking my students to the next level in their learning.
