I teach in a very small town in Kansas filled with wonderful kids who don't always get the opportunity to travel and experience what the world around them has to offer. Reading is an escape for my students. They are curious, hard workers, and love reading anything and everything. We have a limited amount of books in our classroom when it comes to non-fiction texts. My students are turning into quite the knowledge seekers and love telling me stories that they've read in the newspaper or maybe watched on the news the night before. They enjoy being included in learning new information about science and technology. I looped with my students and have now had the pleasure of being with them for 2 years. I always try to encourage their busy minds and creative ideas. Reading has helped inspire my students to go above and beyond their small desks in the classroom. We've even published our own books together.
