Every day I get the honor of teaching 24 grateful and helpful children who find joy in the smallest of things. 22 of the 24 are learning English as a second language and 21 of the 24 are on free or reduced lunch. But this does not impact their love for learning and life. Our carpet is like a conglomerate of carpet pieces. I purchased two roles of “carpet” to fit all the students. But, without a solid backing it tends to slide around on the tile floor much like a piece of fabric. I added some carpet squares to keep it in place, but it still moves around creating a safety hazard for the children. But just like the weather, they press on. They just move the squares, adjust the carpet as needed, and go on with their day.
