A research center would enable opportunities for students to extend their learning in Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. For example, we recently learned about how events in history have affected California. If students had a station with a few Chromebooks, they would have the opportunity to find more events than I introduced them to. In essence, they take learning into their own hands. We would love a "research center" in which students can take the topics we are learning and dig deeper, provide rich background knowledge, or assist in opportunities for intervention. Many of my students do not have a device at home to use for educational purposes. A research center would allow for differentiated tasks for all students to learn. Most importantly, these opportunities would be guided by their learning level.
