My school is a very rough place to work. My students are in the lowest poverty levels in the state. I teach K-5th grade with about 530 students. I am the only art teacher in the district because the other one quit due to no funding. We also have the lowest test scores in the state. We have been taken over twice already by the state department with a third time on the way. These students have been placed in situations they've never asked for or wanted. These are good kids that just make bad choices because it's all they know. I want to give them a proper art education because for some, it's their only escape from the bad choices and unwanted situations.
