We were fortunate enough to obtain a classroom space this year to work on transition skills for post-secondary opportunities. However that space lacks in the area of demonstrating how a bedroom should look and the effort that goes in to keeping a clean and organized space. These materials , furniture, pillows, comforter, etc. will help my students learn functional skills when it comes to cleaning and maintaining a personal area (such as a bedroom). By having a mock apartment space, my students will be able to practice and build upon the skills needed to be independent young adults. My students will be able to learn how to wash bedding, make beds properly, organize shelves, fold and hang up clothes in a closet, iron, and vacuum. In a school setting these materials are not common, the following items are needed to teach independent living skills.
