My students are amazing, funny, resilient and incredibly curious. They keep me on my toes daily. I teach students who learn differently in reading, writing, math, behavior and social skills. 100% of the district qualifies for free lunch. There is an extremely high poverty rate at our school. My students' families need to focus on providing stable home environments. It's up to the rest of us to help provide a stable learning environment. One recent student success: We are working on building a community of kindness within our school. As we practice kindness, I see the changes in the students and how they interact. A student was having a difficult day and was very negative about herself. Another student stopped her and listed several things she has observed as strengths in her friend. They both walked away smiling, ready to meet the next challenge. I love the every day kindness in action I observe daily.
