My students are 7th and 8th grade students. All students qualify for free and reduced priced lunch. I teach in a special day class for math and language arts for students with a variety of disabilities. I have students who range from 1st -7th grade abilities. We have a lot of challenges meeting all my learners needs. My students struggle with a lot of behavioral problems which can make it a challenging work environment. Many students have sensory needs and benefit from music and being out of their seat. I have a love hate relationship with many of my students. They challenge me as a teacher and they make me work. There is such a feeling of satisfaction when my students are successful and that is why I do what I do. Our school is a title one school and 98% of the students also qualify for free and reduced lunch. We have a melting pot of culture at our school which brings a lot to how and what you teach.
