Do you have a job that you can genuinely say you learn something new every day? Well, I can. I could sit here and tell you about the hardships my students face because of their socioeconomic background or whether they get free or reduced lunch. People spend so much time labeling others--kids especially. "That kid has x,y, z wrong with him/her." It's easy to list faults. I choose to see the beauty and wisdom my little students bring to our classroom. So, here's a glimpse into my world. Every day, I am amazed about the compassion, different perspectives, and questions swirling around in their brains. You can tell that when I see my 16 munchkins, I see artists, athletes, scientists, writers, thinkers, dreamers, and the list goes on and on. The thing that connects them to one another--their hunger for knowledge and success.
