All of us learn through movement; Kindergartens, even more so. We are on our feet and changing activities frequently throughout the day, but some activities require a flat surface--a desk or the carpet. A few years ago, I bought a class set of wiggle cushions. They were a HUGE hit. The kids explored at first, and then settled in. Some chose them on the carpet. Some wanted them on the chairs. One or two took those cushions with them everywhere they went. It's not just the novelty, it's about having choice! A child will choose the seating option that allows them to do their best work. They can be comfortable, they can be themselves. With these wobble stools and balance balls they can MOVE and still work. Of course, there will still be standard chairs and desks. They can choose that, but they can also choose to sit at a low table on a cushion, stand behind one of the tall tables, or they can sit and rock in one of our scoop chairs. Having these stools and balance ball options for their seated work will add choice throughout the day, not just during independent time. By donating to our project, you will increase my students' focus and their academic success.
