I believe this quote by Dr. Kevin Maxwell, "Our job is to teach the students we have. Not the ones we would like to have. Not the ones we used to have. Those we have right now. All of them." Every year, I meet my students where they are in terms of their individualized education plan and work hard to help them meet their goals for the school year. For some of them, it may mean learning the letters of the alphabet and the letter sounds. For others, it may mean learning sight words and yet others may learn to read! Each of my students brings their own set of unique challenges and strengths.
