Adaptive, low density materials better meet the needs of young inexperienced learners. By handling foam/coated equipment it is safe for all learners no matter their ability level, whether to strike a ball, catch a frisbee, dodge or flee from one another, or work through the proper throwing cues. Yarn balls and tactile equipment aid in hand eye coordination and overcoming fears. I continue to move my practice in the direction of Teaching Games for Understanding instead of skill based instruction. This gives students the opportunity to have a more authentic learning experience and feel more successful when mastering the skills.
