With your help, I will be able to provide my students each with a copy of A Long Walk to Water. Among other things, this book will be a lesson in geography, endurance, empathy, and cultural awareness. The book is based on a true story that covers the lives of two eleven year olds growing up during turbulent times in Sudan. We will read the book as a novel study where each group will read as a unit while asking thought provoking questions and answering reading comprehension questions. We will discuss themes, characters, setting, and all of the components of the book that make it an inspirational true story. All the while, students will be practicing reading fluency and understanding. Reading is an integral part of a students education. With your help, my students will get a book they are excited to read. They will learn skills they can use in the classroom and beyond.
