I have 25 students who are all at varying levels, who all have varying needs, and who all learn a different way. They come to school ready to learn even when all odds may be against them. About half of my students are below or well below grade level expectations for ELA and Math. Our school is a Title 1 school due to our low-income family population. Due to our low-income area, rising costs, building maintenance, and unexpected expenses, our district budget was in a great deal of trouble which led to teachers and paraprofessionals being cut. Furthermore, classroom supply orders for the current school year were limited to only essential materials. We are being asked to do and provide more for our students with less resources. Our students deserve every possible chance to succeed and acquiring materials, equipment, and supplies from outside sources will help me give my students that chance.
