My young learners will be immersed in the study of sounds from nature and will try to recreate those sounds with different kinds of musical instruments. Also, with the help of some parents and older schoolmates, they will design and use recyclable materials to create a music wall and other musical instruments for our school garden. Great learning in the early years emerges from purposeful, authentic play in natural settings. Your generous donation will support exactly that. Students will access higher order thinking while "reading" and discussing books like "En mi jardin trasero" (about animals in the backyard) and "El sonido: Fuerte, alto, suave y bajo" (about the quality of sound). As well, students will develop higher order thinking by exploring and reproducing the sounds of nature through music. They will produce sound and rhythm with the drumsticks as they strike the instruments on the music wall and play the ukuleles and the xylophones. Additionally, they will learn about persistence and determination while constructing their music wall and other instruments with jingle bells and recyclable materials and while playing their musical instruments. I can't wait to see the joy in my chiquitos' faces as they begin this phase of their musical journey!
